The main difference between manual and electric hospital beds lies in the means of adjustment. Manual hospital beds use hand cranks to raise or lower the position of the head, feet, or the overall height of the bed. They do not require electric power and therefore tend to be cheaper. However, they do demand physical strength to operate, something caregivers may find inhibiting.
Electric hospital beds work through motors with adjustments made from a remote or control panel. Most models, in fact, are fully electric-that is, height, head, and foot adjustments can be executed by pushing a button. They afford a much higher degree of convenience, safety, and comfort- especially if care lasted for a long time or at home.
In other words:
Manual beds cost less but require manual effort, while electric beds promote an easy life for the patient and the caregiver.

- The hospital bed frame – either fully electric or semi-electric, depending on your needs.
- The therapeutic mattress – usually a pressure-relief or foam mattress to avoid bedsores and keep comfort in consideration.
- Side rails – for safety and to prevent falls.
- Setup and delivery – most of them in the greater Toronto area deliver, install, and then collect the rentals after the week has elapsed.
- Basic maintenance – when mechanical problems arise during the rental period, genuine suppliers usually provide their services to either fix it or replace it free of charge.
